Monk Choo — English-Language Teacher

Monk Choo (Wanchalerm Samawangso) is a Buddhist monk trained in the Dhammakaya tradition, a Thai Buddhist lineage. He has dedicated seventeen years of his life to monastic training and teaches meditation in a way that is accessible to anyone, regardless of background or belief. He currently lives at Minnesota Meditation Center in Osseo, where he guides our weekly meditation classes and serves as a spiritual resource for our community.

Monk Choo's approach is warm, practical, and accessible. He believes deeply that meditation can improve quality of life for anyone — regardless of background, belief, or experience level — and has spent over a decade traveling the world to share that message.

A Life of Teaching

Monk Choo has brought meditation instruction to communities across four countries:

His extensive experience teaching across cultures makes him uniquely skilled at introducing meditation to complete beginners as well as guiding more experienced practitioners deeper into their practice. He currently leads an active meditation club in Ecuador, where he continues to invest significant energy in the community.

Monastic Ordination — Thailand

Ordained in the Theravada Buddhist tradition in Thailand, beginning a rigorous path of monastic training, meditation practice, and study of Buddhist teachings.

International Teaching

Traveled to Mongolia, Mexico, Ecuador, and across the United States to share Dhammakaya meditation with local communities, adapting teachings to be accessible across cultures.

Minnesota Meditation Center

Now based in Osseo, Minnesota, Monk Choo leads our weekly meditation classes and serves as resident teacher for both the local community and our growing Thai and Lao community.

Can't make it in person? Monk Choo also offers guided meditation sessions online via Zoom, making his teachings accessible to anyone across Minnesota and beyond.

The Monday Zoom session is a welcoming space for both newcomers and regular practitioners to meditate together with guidance from Monk Choo himself.
